I have written for over 15 years and I have read many books on the craft. Some rescuers, others have some pearls of wisdom, while some are not worth the time or money. There are even books about writing that you lost the feeling and want to throw your computer and your dream of becoming a successful writer, through the window.
I’m not talking about books, the basics of how to cover, for example, The Elements of Style. I guess you know, are the mechanics of writing and critical know-how to the cohesion of sentences. The following books, my two favorite heart, give you the adrenaline, you can follow in desperate need to continue this policy and continue to follow your dreams in writing!
On Writing by Stephen King, who was to write my number one book. The first half is an autobiography. I found his writing very real and heart. I laughed and I even felt a little sad sometimes. You read about his childhood, to publish his first attempts, when he was in elementary school, and all the hard work, long hours and dedication he has devoted his career as a writer. This in itself gave me hope that I may one day become a successful author as well!
The second half of the book is not a bull, no fluff guide to writing. What I like most is that it is not bogged down in the rule after rule and tight organization. Forget outlines and greeting cards and sketches of the characters! He recommends that you sit at your computer, go with your muse and see where he is or she you. It tells you what you need to know from the idea to sell, and some simple considerations and rules. He uses examples from his own work and that of others to show what good prose and what is not. It offers exercises as well.
My writing has since flourished in this book. It is spontaneous and genuine. When I sit at the computer, I do not even know what the next scene, he, but I am always amazed at what can to find my inner self time I make my own way.
Zen in the Art of Writing by Ray Bradbury Be prepared! Ray Bradbury, take the hand and breath in this little book. I can honestly say I have never felt happier or more ideas appear in my head after reading this book. He advises you to stay drunk on writing, because it saves us from reality to write at least a thousand words a day, every day, writing from real life, and much more. What I liked most about this book is what I felt after reading. Zen in the art of writing is like Ray Bradbury it with you, support you, applaud you and ask you to crawl and fly away!
Much in the same direction as the book by Stephen King, this gem is not on the rules that you close and give you more room to breathe, but by the release of writer in. It draws the fine line between genius and insanity . I loved it!
